Mascaras: Dream or Dud?
Hey Guys,
So this time I want to talk about mascaras. In my time of using makeup I've accumulated a lot of them. I want to talk about my top three mascaras and two mascaras I didn't exactly fall in love with. I am going to discuss both high end and drug store mascaras.
So my #1 mascara has to be my tarte lights, camera, lashes mascara. It does a great job extending the lashes as well as making them look fuller. This mascara is my dream mascara. I bought it at ulta during a sale and scored it for $10. It was definitely worth it and if I run out I will definitely repurchase it. This mascara retails at $21. You can buy it at Sephora, Ulta or from Tarte on their website.
My #2 mascara is the covergirl professional mascara in very black. It has a curved wand and does a really nice job curling, and extending the lashes. This mascara doesn't really "fill in" your lashes so to say. It extends and curls the lashes but that is about it. My lashes are pretty thick naturally so that doesn't really bother me but for someone who wants fuller lashes, you might want to apply falsies on your lashes first. This mascara (covergirl all in one mascara) retails for 4.99 so it is rather affordable which is nice.
My #3 mascara is the lash domination mascara in intense black by bareminerals. It has a rubbery wand and it does a great job of filling in the lashes, however when it comes to lengthening them, it leaves a bit to be desired. It is still a great mascara in my opinion though. This mascara retails for $19.00. So it is a bit more expensive then the covergirl mascara but it is worth the money if you have long lashes that need a bit of filling in.
So now I'm going to discuss a few mascaras that I haven't really fallen in love with. This first one was a huge disappointment for me because I love smashbox and their products and was expecting to love this mascara.
So the first mascara that I didn't really like was the smashbox full exposure mascara. The mascara itself is average and that's fine, but when it comes down to it the brush is way too large for the bottle. This makes for clumping and doesn't allow the wand to pick up enough product to really make for wow lashes. Thankfully, I received this as a part of a holiday set. If I hadn't and had spent full price ($22) I would have been much more disappointed in this product.
:(
The second mascara that really fell short is one that I hadn't originally expected much from. I just picked it up on a whim because I was at the dollar tree and hadn't noticed it there before. The mascara I am talking about is the colormates classic mascara in black. The formula is really clumpy and thick. It just doesn't stand up to any of my other mascaras. The wand is very flimsy. I just can't get behind this mascara :( This mascara retails for $2.49 however/thankfully I only paid $1 at the dollar tree.
I hope you guys enjoyed this post! Post in the comments some of your favorite mascaras and just some things you'd like to see me post/comment on! :)
